Price displacement ventilation is a popular choice in schools. Many of the benefits realized in these applications, such as improved indoor air quality and energy cost savings,
are also inherent to UFAD systems.
Like displacement ventillation, UFAD systems employ stratification to efficiently remove contaminants from the occupied zone. Improved indoor air quality has been proven to result in fewer
sick days and improved performance for students.
The air stratification technique employed by UFAD systems results in more comfortable temperatures and alternative room heat transfer pathways leading to energy cost savings.
It is worth noting that environments that pose a risk to the structural integrity of the UFAD system (e.g. areas with the potential for spilling or tampering, such as washrooms and primary
school classrooms) may not be ideal applications. In such environments, displacement or radiant systems are the better choice.
