Displacement Ventilation in Schools

DV is quickly becoming the air distribution system of choice for schools. Whether the project is new construction or an existing renovation, DV systems are a low-maintenance, cost-effective way to deliver high-quality indoor air, provide a thermally comfortable environment, and ensure energy efficient operations.

Students and teachers spend approximately one-third of their day inside schools. Providing a healthy environment is essential to learning. Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ) can impact the health, performance, and attendance of both students and teachers. Numerous research studies from around the globe have shown a consistent link between the benefits of DV (i.e. reduced noise, improved air quality, occupant health) and student/teacher performance.

The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) is a national K-12 green school rating system in the U.S. It's goal is to improve student performance and the educational experience by enforcing high-performance building criteria to schools. DV is the preferred air distribution method of CHPS, which awards up to 4 points for their use.
