We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in our Winder, GA facility.
MAIN FUNCTION:
Reporting to Value Stream Manager, the owner of this position is responsible for cost reduction, process improvement, and capital project management. This position will work with Production, Design Engineering, Maintenance/Tooling, and Purchasing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage, Identify and implement process improvement and material savings projects
- Provide leadership and training for Lean implementation
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date plant layouts
- Implement flow manufacturing processes throughout the plant. Initiate Kanbans for high frequency parts
- Submit and Implement Capital projects with proper justification for cost reduction
- Develop, recommend, and implement product design changes to reduce cost to Sales and Engineering
- Evaluate key products to determine actual manufactured cost
- Actively support manufacturing in any problems with equipment and processes
- Provide documentation support (manage engineering change documentation system, work instructions, process flow charts) as required by manufacturing
Minimum Qualifications:
EDUCATION:
- Minimum of a two year technical degree in electrical, electronic, and/or mechanical technology
- Bachelors of Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering desired
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing-based engineering position
- Demonstrated computer-based skills and knowledge in a manufacturing equipment development or support role
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent written, communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to achieve desired results by working with and through others, including the hourly workforce
- Ability to research and identify commercially-available equipment and process solutions
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytic skills
- Training and experience in implementing Lean Manufacturing techniques
SPECIAL TRAINING:
- Familiarity with AutoCAD technical drawing software or equivalent
- Experience in programming and/or troubleshooting PLC’s desirable
- Experience with Sheet Metal Fabrication equipment is desirable
