3 Way Valve Package

Product Information

3 Way Valve
Models 3-Way Valve-Piping Packages

Price offers three 3 way valve-piping packages. The Basic valve-piping package is a inexpensive means of controlling the water flow to your coil. It has two shut-off ball valves with memory stops so the correct setting can be found quickly during servicing, and an automatic temperature control (ATC) valve, to turn the flow to the coil on or off.

The Intermediate 3 way valve-piping packages adds an improved method of balancing with a selectable automatic (fixed) or manual balancing valve (also known as circuit setter). The automatic valve ensures design flows are maintained within 10% over a differential of 2-80 PSI. The manual balancing valve comes with a memory stop to ensure the balanced point is not lost when servicing. P/T ports are included to allow for measurement of the pressure and temperature drop across the valve. This pressure drop can be compared to factory supplied tables that provide the relationship of the pressure drop to a specific flow rate.

The Deluxe 3 way valve-piping package builds on the Intermediate by adding a strainer to the supply, a bypass valve, and unions to the coil connection.

The Basic valve-piping package requires assembly and must be sweated to the unit. The Intermediate and Deluxe valve-piping packages are shipped pre-assembled and leak tested. All packages require final connection to the coil, the incoming water pipes and the by-pass. Typically the coil and water pipe connections are the same nominal pipe size as the piping packages. Threaded FNPT on the trunk connections and MNPT to sweat adapter are provided to aid the connection to the coil. All packages are tagged to correspond with the fan coil tag and drop shipped to the field for installation.

Basic features:
  • Coil connections are sweat and will match coil header stub out.
  • Trunk connections are FNPT and will match coil connection size
  • Two Ball valves with Memory stop and pressure and temperature (PT) ports to aide in balancing

  • 3-Way zone valve are Globe style valves with a metal on metal seat
  • High close off pressure
  • Standard On/Off, normally closed actuator
  • Water flow rates up to 19 GPM
Intermediate features – Basic, plus:
  • Automatic or Manual Flow control with PT ports
  • Leak tested assembly
  • Only 4 connections per package to connect in the field
Deluxe features – Intermediate plus:

1.   All standard valve packages in this catalog are for hot and chilled water applications.
Ethylene and Propylene glycol may be used up to a 50% concentration.
2.   Basic piping packages are shipped as loose parts for field assembly, installation and wiring.
3.   Intermediate and Deluxe packages are supplier assembled and leak tested before being shipped loose for field installation and wiring.
4.   3-Way bypass installation and assembly by others.
5.   Control valve actuators are removable, and may be serviced or replaced without removal of valve body.
6.   ATC’s are factory supplied as Normally Closed (NC). Normally Open (NO) requires a different actuator. Consult factory if NO is required.
7.   3-Way control valves are installed as mixing style.
8.   All ball isolation valves are supplied with an adjustable memory stop and may be used to help balance the unit.
9.   Pressure/Temperature ports (P/T) are included on every piping package to help monitor pressure and temperature across the coil valve body.
10.

Destined coil connection size determines trunk and coil nominal connection sizes.

12.   Do not exceed the noise sensitive application (NSA) GPM if concerned about noise from water flow. Individual coil GPM requirements must be specified at time of order.
13.   ATC size is changeable within the package if desired valve body Cv is required.
14.   Some piping packages may extend beyond the unit drain pan and/or auxiliary drain pan. Requirements for further condensate capture or insulating supplied valves is by others.
15.   Modulating cooling control valves can increase part load space relative humidity. Proper control sequence and space relative humidity monitoring needs to be present.
16.   Modulating heating control valves may result in lower leaving air temperatures while desired setpoint is approached.
