The Price FDCOA is a Series Flow Fan
Powered terminal unit specifically designed
for operation with a Dedicated Outdoor Air
System (DOAS). In this configuration the
DOAS air handler is selected to dehumidify
and condition the outdoor air as well as to
handle the space latent load. The primary
valve of the FDCOA terminal is supplied
from the DOAS and controls the amount
of fresh air to the space. A cooling coil
mounted to the return air inlet is selected to
handle the space sensible cooling load. An
optional MERV 3, 8, or 13 filter is available
for enhanced indoor air quality. For zones
requiring heat an optional electric or hot
water coil is available. The FDCOA is supplied
as standard with an energy efficient ECM
motor programmed with the Price Enersave
constant flow program to compensate for
filter loading.
The Price FDCOA terminal offers substantial
benefits over a conventional VAV system.
Hydronic cooling is far more efficient than
delivering cooled air to a zone and chilled
water piping takes up a fraction of the space
of ductwork. By taking care of the space
sensible load with the FDCOA cooling coil
the DOAS air handler can be sized to deliver
only the airflow required for ventilation and
latent loads. This air flow reduction results in
a smaller HVAC system which translates into
fan energy savings. A smaller HVAC footprint
and ductwork can also reduce floor heights
or increase leasable space. Decoupling the
sensible and latent loads ensures proper
humidity control at each zone. Additionally
the exact outdoor air requirements to each
zone can be maintained, eliminating over
ventilation and ensuring compliance with
ASHRAE 62. Further energy savings can
be realized if a Demand Control Ventilation
(DCV) strategy is utilized. |
